One day in the summer of 2021, Sony Music Publishing Nashville CEO Rusty Gaston sat down in his Music Row office with his right-hand A&R vp, Anna Weisband, and singer-songwriter Cole Swindell to listen through a list of songs they were considering for Swindell’s next album.
